Frankenberg

The Philipp Soldan town

Frankenberg (Eder), first mentioned in a document in 1244, is today the largest town in the Ederbergland holiday region with almost 20.000 inhabitants. A detour to the beautiful historic half-timbered old town leads via the Obermarkt to the Steinhaus and the famous, more than 500-year-old, ten-tower town hall, to the Liebfrauenkirche and to the Burgberg.

The old town and the Frankenberg pedestrian zone invite you to shop and enjoy. Stories are told in the nearby museum in the monastery and in the Thonet Museum.

Several national cycle paths meet at the Ederuferpark: the Eder-Stege invite you to take a leisurely break.
